Turn Cricket Red 2026

About The Ruth Strauss Foundation

Hi there,

I am taking part in the Turn Cricket Red campaign this Summer on behalf of the Ruth Strauss Foundation and I'd love your support!

The Foundation's mission is to ensure families facing the death of a parent from cancer are offered professional emotional support, as well as raise awareness of the need for more research in the fight against non-smoking related lung cancers.

Thanks for visiting my page, your support means the world and will make a real difference to families facing grief.

Saturday 21st Mar

Sherborne Boys will host its fourth annual Ruth Strauss Foundation Cricket Week in the final week of the Summer Term, and plans are already well-advanced for another festival of cricket.  RSF Cricket Week has quickly become well-established within the Sherborne calendar, with last year’s event raising a grand total of £6,081 for the Foundation, which means that the event has – so far – raised over £12,000 in three years.  We very much hope to add a significant amount to the pot this year, with the fundraising efforts supported by sales of souvenir brochures, a prize draw and auction, and generous sponsorships from local businesses.

The curtain will be raised with Abbey House’s ‘Mums and Dads v Lads’ game on Sunday 14th June, before the week swings fully into action on Saturday 20th June with matches against Blundell’s.  On Sunday, Sherborne Prep plays Saltus Grammar School, Bermuda, alongside the 1st XI’s return fixture with Sherborne Pilgrims.  Monday sees a T10 Tournament, also involving Dauntsey’s and Millfield, before the Bow House XI takes on Sherborne CC in Tuesday’s evening T20 fixture.  On Wednesday, the senior sides will host Waterkloof High School from Pretoria before the week – and the season – ends with the 1st XI’s traditional clash with MCC on Thursday 25th June.  A total of ten different Sherborne teams and nine different opponents will be involved in 14 fixtures across the week.

The prize draw again showcases many of Sherborne’s shops and food outlets, with a wide range of businesses generously donating prizes.  Meanwhile, our lead partners – Hummingbird, Mogers Drewett and World Class Willow – have all made particularly significant contributions, and all will have a visible presence on The Upper throughout the week.

For more detail – both on the matches and on the wonderful work that the Ruth Strauss Foundation does in promoting cancer research and supporting families facing bereavement – do please keep checking out this site, where we will be posting regular updates.  MiC Cricket, Hugh Tatham, comments, “Do, please, join us on The Upper throughout the week: the sun will be shining (we hope!), some wonderful cricket will be played, and there will even be ice cream, courtesy of our good friends at Ecco Gelato.  Best of all, you can enjoy all of this with a good conscience, knowing that you are helping families in the toughest of circumstances.”
