Sherborne School

Turn Cricket Red 2025

Just a perfect day...

With our £5K target being passed across our various channels, and a 5-wicket win for the 1st XI over MCC!  Life doesn't get much better than that, so thank you one and all!  There is still money coming in too and, hopefully, the funds raised will make a real difference.  Thank you everyone!

And the sun is coming out...

Just in time for the team photo!

The news from the middle...

MCC has won the toss and elected to bat.

The final day...

Game 25 and day 6 of Sherborne's Ruth Strauss Foundation Cricket Week.  It's been wonderful so far, so let's see how the 1st XI can do today!  We are on The Upper from 11.30am, so do join us if you can!

Well done...

To Castle Court, who won today's Jimmy Adams Prep Schools' Tournament!  Tomorrow is day 6 - the last day of the week and of Sherborne's 2025 season - as the 1st XI takes on MCC.  The game starts at 11.30am on The Upper - don't miss it!

Up and running...

In the Jimmy Adams Prep Schools' Tournament on The Upper!  Great to see young cricketers being so competitive and having a great time!  Jimmy - of course - is an old boy of Sherborne and now Hampshire's lead batting coach.

Day 4...

And a wonderful day in the sunshine to mark Giles Reynolds' 36-year Sherborne career!  A win for the 1st XI and LOTS of money in the pot!  Tomorrow, it's the turn of the Prep Schools...

Another lovely day...

And well played to the younger teams from Sherborne, Dauntsey's and Sherborne Prep.  Tomorrow sees the 1st XI back in action on The Upper, as well as the whole school non-uniform day...  Do join us if you can - and wear red!

A great day today...

And an emphatic win for the 1st XI over Sherborne Pilgrims!  Well batted, Jordan (106) and well bowled Charlie (4 wickets).  Tomorrow is day 3 and it's the turn of the Under 15 and Under 14 teams.  Do join us on Carey's Fields if you can.

Day 1 done...

And it's been a hot one!  But, six matches played and plenty of funds added to the coffers.  And a fantastic century for Fergus on The Upper!  Tomorrow, the 1st XI takes on Sherborne Pilgrims - always a great contest, so do join us if you can!

One day to go...

Look out for the match schedule for Sherborne's RSF Cricket Week - first revealed here...

Sherborne School Cricket Week 2025

The final week of June will see Sherborne School host its third annual Ruth Strauss Foundation Cricket Week, with a fundraising target of £5,000 for this wonderful charity.  Alongside some thirty matches in five days, there will be a prize draw, sales of souvenir brochures and prints, a whole-school non-uniform day, and sponsorships from local businesses – all raising money to support research and bereavement counselling for families affected by cancer.

The week begins with four matches against Blundell’s School on Saturday 21st June, followed on Sunday by the 1st XI’s declaration game against the Sherborne Pilgrims.  On Monday, it will be the turn of the Junior Colts sides before the 1st XI returns to the fray on Tuesday against the Giles Reynolds XI: this game will also provide an opportunity to say farewell to our long-serving History teacher and former Housemaster, currently coaching the 1st XI, as he heads off to India after 36 years at Sherborne.  Wednesday is given over to the Jimmy Adams Prep Schools’ Tournament, before the evening sees the Bow House (staff) XI playing their final match of the term against Sherborne CC.  Then, on Thursday 26th June, the week comes to its climax as the 1st XI closes its season in an all-day game against MCC.  This will also be the occasion of the prize draw, during the afternoon tea interval.

MiC Cricket Hugh Tatham comments, “After a busy winter, which has seen Sherborne recognised in ‘The Cricketer’ magazine’s Top 100 schools as well as being chosen as a performance centre for Dorset Cricket, I am absolutely delighted that we will again be going Red for Ruth.  Our Ruth Strauss Foundation Cricket Week has quickly become established as one of the highlights of the season, and this year’s will be a real community affair.  Do join us on The Upper to support this wonderful cause.”
