Turn Cricket Red this Summer

We need your support!

We’re calling all communities to host their own #RedforRuth event and help us turn cricket red. No matter how big or small your club is, please help us raise vital funds and awareness to support more families facing one of life’s toughest tests

Put on an event and turn your club red – however you choose to support, this summer we can turn cricket red and make a huge impact. From red kit to red stumps, decorating the pavilion or sports hall, the more creative you can be the better!

Supporting the Campaign

From Test match superstars at #RedforRuth to local community heroes, this summer we’re bringing the whole cricket community together

"Seeing so many groups want to take part and help make a difference is awe-inspiring, and I’m looking forward to seeing hundreds of clubs around the country turn red in support of families facing grief. However you want to get involved, it will be great to see so many people in red coming together to play cricket this summer"

Sir Alastair Cook

Sherborne School was thrilled to support the Ruth Strauss Foundation in 2023, and we were delighted that our Cricket Week raised funds for this wonderful charity.

We will go again in June 2024, with a larger fundraising target and we are delighted that the whole school community - pupils, parents and old boys - will be getting behind us. There is, already, huge excitement around our RSF Cricket Week 2024 as we count down the days to a fabulous event. #RedforRuth is such a great cause, and we really hope that our 2024 RSF Cricket Week will raise both money and awareness, so that the Foundation can make a real difference to families as they face up to bereavement.

Cricket Comes Together

Supporting families facing one of life’s toughest tests

Alongside our annual #RedforRuth event at Lord's Cricket Ground, we want to appeal to grassroots, community cricket clubs and schools in every part of the country. Throughout the cricketing summer we would love your club, school or university to join our Turn Cricket Red movement in support of the Foundation.

We’ve got loads of popular fundraising ideas for all types of cricket community and our dedicated team are more than happy to support you in your planning in any way we can.

Why we we're here

RSF's Mission

Early 2018, Ruth Strauss, wife of Sir Andrew Strauss the former England cricket captain, was diagnosed with an incurable lung cancer that affects non-smokers. Ruth died on December 29th 2018; she was 46 years old and mother to two children, then aged 10 and 13.

In her memory, Sir Andrew Strauss set up the Foundation to:
Provide emotional support for families to prepare for the death of a parent to cancer.

Raise awareness of the need for more research & collaboration in the fight against non-smoking lung cancers.
